The Scarlet Spotlight is honored to be joined by former Rutgers women's basketball star Sue Wicks for Episode 78 of the podcast. Wicks discussed growing up in Long Island, being recruited by Theresa Grentz to RU in the 1980s, her interaction with Jim Valvano during that recruitment and her playing days at the RAC. Wicks also touches on her career in Europe and the WNBA, including with her hometown New York Liberty. In a powerful moment, Wicks describes why she announced that she is gay in 2000 while an active WNBA player, and why she continues to speak about the inequities between women's and men's sports today.
